Hello World, another day in Cyberville
Is it Noob or Newbie?
I have been working online for 12 years. Yes, "I have been around since the Information Super Highway was a Dirt Road!"
When I first started online advertising back then I was called a Newbie. The endearing term was meant to describe someone who was just starting and for the most part didn't have a clue - yep, that was me LOL.
A lot of Newbies took offense, they felt the word was a little harsh and someone tried to soften it a bit to "Noob".
Either way ... don't take the term to be personally offensive .... I was a Newbie, and I am still a Noob in certain areas.
Just smile and say "Yep, I'm a Noob (or Newbie)!

As someone online since 1986 (yep, before the superhighway was even a glimmer of a dirt road, I can tell you it doesn’t really matter if it’s Noob, Noobie or Newbie. Back when online meant CompuServe and Telnet into message boards, it was noob or noobie. (Yeah, I am that old.)
Later, as the Internet began to emerge, I heard newbie more often than not to describe a newcomer or someone just starting out, but there were other terms as well (some not so flattering).
Like any *club*, there are the *fish*, *freshman*, *newbies* or *noob’s*. It’s just a way for the oldtimers to feel good about going before.
The Internet today is the great equalizer. A brand new marketer, with the right skill set can dominate in no time so the lines are getting a little blurred between noobies and oldies. =)
Just my two cents worth.
Hi Cenay, Thank you very much for your 2 cents from one old timer to another.
Have a great day!
Gina
In some ways I feel like I’ll always be a Noob! Even though I know a lot about certain apsects, I am always learning new things. In that way, Noob can be a very positive label!
My experience supports the wikipedia definition:(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noob) A Newbie is someone who’s new and needs help to find his feet. A n00b is someone that is not new any more, should know better, but irritates someone by still acting like a newbie.
The WOW spelling is Nub just to make it a little more confusing.
I guess I would desribe myself as a ‘noob’, because I’ve been on the ‘net for quite awhile. I know that we (internet customers) are powerful if we listen to or watch the masters. I’m still struggling with an overload of info. but still know that wealth is probable if you focus & get to it. One of these days, hopefully pretty soon, I’ll be making more $$$ than SSI/SSDI. Right now, I’m in Montpelier, VT waiting for my SSI/SSDI check on the 1st & 3rd of June.
Hi Gregg, We are all faced with information overload. I can tell you that sooner or later you will find what really interests you and when you do you can begin to earn by focusing on that interest.
For me it was traffic – I was fascinated with all the different ways to generate traffic – once I learned all the ways – I became a traffic provider – my first year I earned over $125,000 – one of the reasons why I earned so much was because I used the same services that I sold to my customers. I would test every source and track – once I was pulling sales from a source I would contact my repeat buyers and ask them if they wanted to try it too.
My best advice is to write your plan on paper. Working online makes it much easier to realize your goals because we have sales happening 24 hours a day – 7 days a week – 365 days per year. The virtual online store(s) never closes. Create your own money map. Most newbies start with making $10 a day as their goal – once you reach that $300 a month goal – repeat the exact process you used to get there. Repeat it 10 times and then you would have $3,000 a month in income.
Focus and plan!
