While much of what we write here on this blog may seem like common sense stuff – I can tell you firsthand that we see common mistakes frequently. One of the biggest mistakes made online is Affiliate Link Blunders.
There are things you need to be aware of as an affiliate marketer and many people do not take the time to even do these few simple steps before promoting their link – in turn – no signups are received and the frustration of “thinking” you can’t refer sets in.
This is a short list – I will add to it as time permits.
1.) Do not try to type your affiliate link. Learn to copy and paste your link – most errors occur when you try to hand type a link that is very long. Copy and paste the link is a simple process and will make your work online much quicker. We have a quick video – click here:
If the video looks out of focus – click the little google logo under the video -
right hand bottom of video – and in the drop down box – click “smooth”
and “original size”.
2.) Always paste your link into your browser and see if it goes to the page intended. Make sure your sponsor ID shows up there. If your sponsor ID is not showing it may be because you need to delete cookies and/or temporary internet files – otherwise even though your link may be fine – you will personally be seeing the information of your sponsor. Clean up your computer and try again.
3.) Never assume that your link is bad. We have seen very odd instances where a Router will do funky things like insert the persons IP into the link when they paste it into their browser. This can occur when there is a firewall on the router, and/or a virus, and or some other crazy setting the the router company has set improperly – making you the unsuspecting victim of an affiliate link that doesn’t work. If you think it may be simple to call them and ask them to check this sort of thing – think again – most people answering the phones of those router companies are just reading from a pre-printed binder and don’t even know what a firewall is. If that’s the case – now you are really stuck – please always check your links.
4.) Cloak your links . We can really get into some highly technical stuff but for this quick guide I am just going to tell you that you should be cloaking your links with a viral cloaking system.
I hope this was helpful – I will add to this as time permits.
